Climate and Gender Budget Tagging (C&GBT) workshops are currently underway across the country, advancing efforts to integrate climate resilience and gender responsiveness into public finance systems.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa , a two-day training on Climate and Gender Budget Tagging focused on strengthening participants’ understanding of how climate and gender considerations can be systematically integrated into public budgeting and planning processes.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Khalid Iqbal, Special Secretary Finance, underscored the importance of institutionalising C&GBT to enable evidence-based decision-making and support sustainable development in the province.
Meanwhile, in Islamabad, REMIT convened the second Consultative Workshop on Climate & Gender Budget Tagging for Federal State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), in partnership with the Ministry of Finance and the Central Monitoring Unit (CMU). The workshop brought together representatives from the Finance Division, CMU, Budget Wing, and federal SOEs to operationalise C&GBT within the SOE context.
Discussions centred on Pakistan’s whole-of-government C&GBT framework, practical application of C&GBT methodologies for SOEs, and the finalisation of the Climate Action Matrix (CAM).
The consultative dialogue helped build consensus on implementation pathways and strengthened stakeholder ownership for embedding climate and gender considerations within federal SOE systems.
