About Us

Who we are?

REMIT is five-year (2021-25) technical assistance program funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), United Kingdom to support Pakistan in implementing strategic reforms in the realm of economic development, trade, investment and revenue mobilisation.

Focus Areas

  • The programme focuses on the following areas:

    1. Tax Revenue Mobilisation: The programme works towards increasing the number of taxpayers to strengthen tax revenue mobilisation, ultimately raising the tax-to-GDP ratio.
    2. Investment Climate: The programme addresses investment climate challenges faced by local and international businesses, promoting Pakistan as a top reformer country to do business in.
    3. Trade Facilitation: The programme aims to reduce barriers to trade and drive competitiveness, thereby increasing exports to reduce Pakistan’s trade deficit. The World Bank supports this component.
    4. Macroeconomic Policy Modernisation: The programme seeks to modernise how macroeconomic policy is made and implemented to avoid future financial crises.

Cross-Cutting Themes

The programme incorporates cross-cutting themes of gender and inclusion, climate change, and strategic communications.
