Workshop on Climate and Gender Budget Tagging for SOEs

REMIT and Ministry of Finance Host Consultative Workshop on Climate and Gender Budget Tagging for SOEs

Recognizing the fiscal significance of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) and the importance of transparent, inclusive, and climate- and gender-responsive reporting frameworks, REMIT, in collaboration with the Central Monitoring Unit (CMU) of the Ministry of Finance, convened a Consultative Workshop on Climate and Gender Budget Tagging (C&GBT) for SOEs in Islamabad.

The session brought together 45 senior officials from the Ministry of Finance’s CMU, relevant government departments, and 22 representatives from key SOEs to deliberate on integrating climate and gender considerations into enterprise-level planning, budgeting, and reporting systems in line with the SOE (Governance and Operations) Act, 2023.

With an aggregate asset base of Rs 38.4 trillion and revenues of Rs 13.5 trillion across 128 SOEs, the scale of Pakistan’s public enterprise operations underscores the critical need to embed climate and gender tagging within SOE governance and reporting frameworks.
