As Pakistan accelerates its journey towards a more digital, transparent and business-friendly economy, technology-enabled public sector systems are becoming central to improving the investment climate and trade opportunities.

Yesterday, the Deputy British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Alison Blackburne alongside colleagues from FCDO and the REMIT Pakistan team, visited Pakistan Customs port in Karachi to kick off the development of the Virtual Review System (VRS). This new initiative being supported through the REMIT Programme that will modernise Customs dispute resolution and strengthen Pakistan’s digital trade ecosystem.

Chief Collector Customs and Pakistan Single Window representatives on the occasion informed that VRS will introduce a secure, end-to-end digital platform for Customs review hearings, replacing manual processes with automated scheduling, digital document and real-time case tracking. This will enable faster resolution of customs disputes, the system will make it easier for businesses to trade while supporting Pakistan Customs’ wider digital transformation agenda.
