After successfully completing its federal-level work, REMIT is now kickstarting climate budget tagging at the provincial level.
Our team recently held productive meetings with the Chief Secretary of Balochistan and the Chief Secretary of Sindh, along with senior officials from the Finance, Climate Change, and Forestry departments.
The Chief Secretaries of both provinces appreciated REMIT’s initiative and formally endorsed climate budget tagging for their provinces.
The provincial leadership highlighted the value of climate-tagged data in aligning Balochistan’s and Sindh’s public expenditures with climate adaptation and mitigation priorities, an important step, especially in the current environment when Pakistan is hit badly by climate related disasters.
With both Balochistan and Sindh supporting these initiatives, REMIT is excited to advance its mission of strengthening evidence-based climate policy and finance at the sub-national level.
